The quick answer

A browser MMORTS is a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game played through a web browser. In HearthHold, you build a floating town, manage resources, recruit heroes and coordinate with other players in a persistent world that continues while you are away.

What makes the world persistent?

A traditional match often starts with a blank map and ends when one side wins. A persistent world gives your decisions a longer life. Buildings, research, troop training and journeys belong to an ongoing kingdom. Leaving the browser does not pause everyone else's play.

That changes what good strategy looks like. A strong session is not simply a burst of clicks. It is a plan for what your town should produce, build and prepare before you return. Read the current timers and reports instead of assuming that the world waited for you.

Build, explore and cooperate

HearthHold connects three kinds of decisions. At home, you develop resource fields, storage and useful buildings. Beyond your walls, you explore the map, encounter monsters and manage marches. With other players, you form alliances, exchange information and coordinate support.

  • Build: choose the next upgrade that solves a real bottleneck.
  • Explore: assess a destination before committing troops and travel time.
  • Cooperate: make your plans understandable to the people supporting you.

You do not need to master every system in the first session. A working economy and a clear next objective make the wider game easier to understand.

What do you need to play?

Open HearthHold in your browser on desktop or mobile. No separate game installation is required. You need an internet connection and a modern browser and device with WebGL 2 support for the 3D world. The browser still downloads the assets it needs; “no download” means no separate installer.

Desktop gives you more room for the map and management panels. Mobile is useful for checking progress and making decisions on a smaller screen. Use the same account when returning to your kingdom. A saved login sends you from the homepage into the game.

Is this your kind of strategy game?

HearthHold suits players who enjoy gradual development, planning around timers and collaborating in a shared world. It asks different questions from a short reflex-driven match: what will you need later, which investment unlocks the next step, and who can you rely on?

Being in a persistent world also means preparing for absence. Check storage, grain and active tasks before leaving. The beginner's guide turns that idea into a practical first-session routine. If you are deciding how to begin, compare the four tribes before choosing.
